Welcome to the practice. As a board-certified surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Henson’s approach is rooted in treating the whole person — not just the symptom or the disease. Open communication, compassionate care, and advanced technology are the keys to a successful surgical outcome.

He specializes in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgery using the da Vinci Surgical System. Whether you are coming in for gallbladder removal, a complex hernia repair, colon surgery, or the life-changing step of bariatric weight-loss surgery, the goal is the safest, most effective treatment so you can get back to living fully.

Dr. Henson treats adult patients and sees people in person at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Surgical Specialists in Hickory. New patients are welcome.

Outside the operating room in North Carolina, Dr. Henson is committed to global health equity. He serves as Vice President of Access Health Africa, a nonprofit that provides essential surgery, trains local teams, and runs surgical camps in Malawi. That work includes landmark laparoscopic procedures and high-volume camps that bring operations to people who would otherwise wait years.
